This bamboo will grow to about 25' tall and is drought tolerant with dense foliage.

Sago-Palm

Sago Palm resembles small palms; it is evergreen. It can slowly grow to 10'. It is used for a tropical effect and also looks great in planters. In the low desert, light shade and additional moisture are best. Side sprouts can form multi-trunked individuals. Apply fertilizer at leaf expansion. This plant has few pests.

Star Jasmine, Maile Haole

Botanical name:Trachelospermum jasminoides

Star Jasmine is an evergreen vine that grows 20' tall or a ground cover that reaches 1'-2' tall and 4'-5' wide. It has white fragrant flowers in the summer and can tolerate sun or partial shade. The star jasmine needs regular watering. Leaves are dark green, oval, thick, about 2" long. This is a great plant on a trellis, in containers or in a parking strip.

Horsetail Rush

This reed-like plant bears dark green, jointed stems to 3'-4' tall. It should receive sun to part shade with regular summer watering. The reed grass can be extremely invasive and is best when used in pots or when confined by a barrier. However, it can be extremely effective as an accent plant. While tolerant of wet conditions, the most successful plantings are those with average soil moisture. -Monterey Bay Nursery

Crassula argentea is a evergreen shrub that grows to 2' to10' tall and 3' to 6' wide with light green leaves. It like full sun, low watering, and will live in any type of well drained soil.

Vinca Rosea, Madagascar Periwinkle

Common name:Vinca Rosea, Madagascar Periwinkle
Botanical name:Catharanthus roseus

This groundcover can reach about 3' in height and has small, glossy green leaves with white and pink flowers that bloom in summer and fall.

Mexican Weeping Bamboo

Common name:Mexican Weeping Bamboo
Botanical name:Otatea acuminata aztecorum

This exotic clumping bamboo has tall fronds that sway in the wind like a kelp bed forest. This bamboo can reach 20' tall, with canes that are 1.5" in diameter. Canes are covered with light green, thin, narrow leaves which sway in the wind. It rarely blooms. Mexican Weeping Bamboo can be planted in sun or shade and is drought tolerant once it's established. It also tolerates ocean spray.
